1853 SEATED LIBERTY ARROWS & RAYS TRIBUTE – 2 TROY OUNCE – 39MM
Description
Due to an imbalance in the price of silver and gold, a Coinage Act was passed by the U.S. Congress in 1853 that resulted in a reduction of weight for the Half Dime, Dime, Quarter and Half. To make the change obvious, rays were placed on the reverse of each coin, and arrowheads on either side of the date on the obverse.

- Obverse: Liberty seated on a rock, surrounded by thirteen stars and holding the Union shield along with a pole topped by a Liberty cap.
