William Barber’s Amazonian design has always been considered one of the most beautiful and important patterns of the 19th century.  The Amazonian name dates to the 1890 New York Coin and Stamp auction of the Lorin G. Parmelee collection and was probably given by David Proskey.”

  • Obverse: Amazonian design with Liberty seated, facing left, her right hand touching the head of a spread-wing eagle, sword in left hand. Thirteen stars are on the upper portion of that side with the date below
  • Reverse: Reversed variant of the eagle seen on the obverse, clasping arrows and holding a shield with banner across reading “IN GOD WE TRUST.” “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” across the top circumference, with Hallmark below with “2 TROY OUNCES” across the lower circumference.
