The Stella, meaning star in Latin, was proposed for international trade but never was produced for circulation. This Flowing Hair pattern designed by Charles E. Barber (as opposed to the Coiled Hair – also available – designed by George T. Morgan) is commemorated in this half-ounce Silver round.

• Contains 1/2 oz. Troy of .999 Fine Silver
• Obverse: Coiled Hair head with “★1C5★.5★5★G★R★A★M★S★.9★9★9★” inscribed around and dated “1879” below
• Reverse: Five pointed beaded star containing “AG STELLA .999 FINE” with flourish. Concentrically surrounded by “E PLURIBUS UNUM –DEO EST GLORIA-“ and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” “HALF OUNCE” respectively
