Description
Sicily, Akragas (Agrigentum). Circa 414-413 BC. – Akragas (modern Agrigento), a Greek colony located on the southern coast of Sicily, was founded in 582 BC by an expedition from Gela led by oikists Aristonous and Pystilos.

- Obverse: Two eagles standing on a dead hare, the nearer of the two with head raised, while the other is bending over. Border of dots.
- Reverse: Above, a crab. Below, Skylla left, female upper body, lower coiled like a serpent’s with fish’s tail and fins; at left and right of the body, foreparts of two dogs to left, right one with head right; her hair blown by the wind; right hand raised palm inwards, left hand with open palm, outstretched over coils of serpent. Inscription in Greek around.
